Individual Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are needed to assist with our programs in a variety of ways. These opportunities can be found on our partner site, Hands On Atlanta. Simply navigate to their website at www.handsonatlanta.org, search for Girls Inc. and then click on “See All Volunteer Opportunities With This Organization.” Volunteer opportunities take place at our center located in Marietta, GA unless otherwise noted. Time Commitment and Scheduling:
Our Afterschool program runs from 2:30pm to 6:30pm Monday through Friday, with service opportunities for the full afternoon or for Homework Help from 5pm to 6pm. Our summer programs are more flexible, with many more volunteer opportunities, as the center is open from 7am to 6pm.
Volunteers are asked to commit one day per week for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks the Volunteer Manager will check in to make sure the volunteer is still happy with this role. You must register through the Hands On Atlanta site for each day that you would like to volunteer. This helps us to plan programming and anticipate who will be at the center.
Background Check and Orientation:
To register for our orientations, click here. Minimum age to volunteer is 18 and a background check and orientation is required prior to starting volunteerism with Girls Incorporated of Greater Atlanta. You will receive more information on how to complete your background check at orientation. Volunteers are asked to help pay for the cost of the background check ($30), but if this is a hardship please feel free to contact our Volunteer Coordinator, Talia Sylvain at firstname.lastname@example.org. Once you have completed the background check process, you will be contacted and cleared to register for our opportunities.
Team Fun Fridays
Fun Fridays are a great opportunity for you to engage your community club or corporate team. Just contact our volunteer manager to schedule these dates. Your team is welcomed to the center for a quick tour at 3pm, and set up for programming begins around 3:30. We will work with you to create fun activities where your team has the opportunity to engage with the girls in strong, smart, bold ways. Everything is wrapped up by 6pm. This is a great way to introduce Girls Inc. to your company or organization!
