Fall Break Fun: Sports, Sisterhood & Skill-Building in Marietta

This past month, Fall Break at our Marietta Center was packed with energy, learning, and connection. Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta welcomed special guests from both the Georgia State University Volleyball Team and the Life University Rugby Team, turning Fall Break into a week of exploration, friendship, and fun.

Our youth participants had the chance to engage with college athletes, explore new sports, and build confidence through hands-on experiences they won’t soon forget.

🏐 GSU Volleyball Team: Technique, Teamwork & Confidence

Girls had the opportunity to learn directly from the talented athletes of the Georgia State University Volleyball Team, who led an interactive session on volleyball fundamentals. The team introduced:

• Proper hitting and passing techniques
• Teamwork drills to encourage communication and support
• Fun games to bring the skills to life

Whether our girls were already on the volleyball court or trying the sport for the first time, the energy was unmatched. The joy of learning from collegiate athletes made the day both inspiring and empowering, with many of our girls expressing newfound excitement about the sport.

🏉 Life University Rugby Team: Resilience Meets Creativity

On another action-packed day, our girls were introduced to the world of rugby by the Life University Rugby Team. This session focused on the core values of the sport—teamwork, strategy, and strength—while keeping things fun and beginner-friendly.

In between drills and laughter, the girls got creative by making friendship bracelets alongside the athletes, blending sportsmanship with personal connection. It was a powerful reminder that leadership and friendship go hand in hand, both on and off the field.
