The October 2025 Eureka! STEAM Saturday at Kennesaw State University (KSU) was packed with creativity, curiosity, and career exploration—all with a spooky Halloween twist! From hands-on medical simulations to forensic science, it was a day that sparked imagination and empowered every participant to see herself as a future leader in STEAM.

🩹 First Aid Meets Fun: Wound Care Workshop

The day began with a hands-on Wound Care Workshop led by KSU’s nursing instructors, who guided girls through the basics of first aid. After applying realistic “injury” tattoos, participants practiced bandaging and care techniques on one another—learning essential skills while building confidence and teamwork.

The energy in the room was high, with laughter and focus blending together as girls supported one another through this playful yet practical session.

💀 Bone Basics: Stepping into Forensic Osteology

Next, our Eurekans stepped into the shoes of forensic anthropologists during the Bone Basics: Forensic Osteology workshop. Girls learned how skeletal remains can tell detailed stories about a person’s identity, life, and death—applying scientific reasoning in a CSI-style format.

This spooky but educational session helped demystify the field of forensic science, sparking curiosity about biology, criminology, and medical careers.

🎓 College Prep: Vision, Planning, and Pathways

Shifting from skeletons to scholarships, the afternoon turned toward college and career exploration. Each participant created a personalized College Prep Binder to organize her goals and research.

• Cohorts 1 & 2 explored the differences between trade schools, community colleges, and universities, considering what path fits their future.
• Cohort 3 began mapping out their five-year plans, identifying both academic goals and career interests as they looked toward life after high school.

This thoughtful time gave each girl the chance to envision her next chapter with clarity, confidence, and purpose.
