Practicing Real-World Confidence: Dining Etiquette with Life Skills Club

At Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta, we believe that preparing girls for successful futures means more than academics—it’s about building confidence, communication, and real-world readiness. That’s why our Life Skills Club recently hosted a special session on dining etiquette, equipping participants with valuable tools they can carry with them for life.

Led by the warm and engaging Mrs. Lawana, this hands-on workshop turned an ordinary afternoon into a meaningful learning experience. With a beautifully set table and a welcoming atmosphere, our girls learned how to approach meals with confidence and courtesy—skills that serve them well in both personal and professional settings.

What They Learned

During the session, participants explored a range of practical etiquette lessons, including:

• How to sit properly at the table

• The correct use of utensils and napkins

• Respectful ways to pass items around the table

• The value of polite conversation during meals

These lessons were brought to life through engaging role-play and interactive guidance from Mrs. Lawana. The girls didn’t just listen—they practiced and experienced these behaviors in real time.

A Delicious Learning Experience

While sipping juice and enjoying a delightful spread that included crackers and jam, cucumber sandwiches, and strawberry cake, students had the chance to reinforce their learning through shared conversation and mindful mealtime behavior.

The session also emphasized the deeper message of respect—both for oneself and for others—and how good manners can open doors in many areas of life, from family dinners to professional networking events.
