Voices of Power: Marietta Youth Lead “Past, Present, and Powerful” Showcase

At the Girls Inc. Marietta Center, history isn’t just something we read—it’s something we embody. Recently, our community gathered for “Voices of the Past, Present, and Powerful,” a youth-led showcase designed to celebrate cultural heritage while building the confidence of our future leaders.

A Multi-Generational Stage

From kindergarten through middle school, our girls took the stage to share their voices through a dynamic range of self-expression:

  • Spoken Word & Reenactments: Highlighting influential figures and defining moments in history.

  • Dance & Stepping: Celebrating the rhythm and resilience of cultural movements.

  • Fashion Through the Decades: Exploring how culture and self-expression have evolved over time.

Building “Soft Skills” Through Performance

While the audience saw a beautiful show, our staff saw weeks of rigorous skill-building. To prepare for this event, the girls mastered:

  1. Public Speaking: Finding the courage to speak clearly in front of a crowded room.

  2. Teamwork: Coordinating complex dance and stepping routines.

  3. Creative Problem Solving: Designing outfits and presentations that reflected historical accuracy.

Strengthening the Village

The showcase was more than a performance; it was a powerful moment of Family Engagement. Parents and guardians filled the room, witnessing firsthand the transformation of their daughters into confident presenters and performers.

As the girls took their final bows, the pride in the room was a testament to the “Strong, Smart, and Bold” spirit that defines the Girls Inc. Marietta community.
