Leading with Intention: How Our Teens are Navigating Growth and Advocacy

This February, the Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta campus was in motion with a singular focus: equipping our girls with the tools to navigate their worlds—both digital and professional. Through our GLOW and Project Accelerate programs, participants leaned into growth through self-reflection and expert mentorship.

GLOW: Decoding the Digital World

For our middle school participants in GLOW, the day was about Social Media Literacy. In an era of constant connectivity, the girls unpacked the content they consume, discussing how it relates to their lives and how it compares to their peers.

The session concluded with a powerful exercise in self-love: creating self-affirmation Valentine’s Day cards. As 7th-grader Kadence shared, “We wrote what we loved about ourselves,” reinforcing the importance of speaking positivity over their own identities before looking to the screen.

Project Accelerate: The Art of Self-Advocacy

Our high schoolers in Project Accelerate shifted the focus toward professional leadership. We were honored to host guest speakers Daphne Valcin and Britt Hunter, who led honest, relatable sessions on self-advocacy, teamwork, and intentional goal-setting.

The impact of having professional women of color share their “real-world” wisdom was evident. Participant Dylan reflected, “Their sessions made me think differently about my goals and how I approach things. I walked away with a new perspective and more motivation.”

Same Outcome: Confidence

Different spaces and different age groups, but the same result: girls walking away more reflective, more motivated, and ready for what’s next. At Girls Inc., we don’t just teach leadership; we provide the experts and the environment where leadership can take root.
