Understanding Their Bodies, Finding Their Voices

Understanding Their Bodies, Finding Their Voices

Teen Programs · September 2026

Her body. Her voice.
Her right to understand.

Weekend sessions gave girls space to ask questions, explore healthy boundaries, and learn about their well-being.

Throughout September, Girls Inc. participants took part in weekend sessions centered on “Hello Friend! Gaining a Better Understanding of Your Monthly Visitor.” The sessions created a safe, supportive environment for conversations about their bodies, their rights, and their personal well-being.

Starting with their rights.

Participants began by exploring the Girls Inc. Creed, reinforcing their rights as Girls Inc. girls and the importance of using their voices, advocating for themselves, and embracing their individuality.

These conversations connected the month’s learning to a central message: girls deserve opportunities to understand themselves and speak up about what matters to them.

Exploring boundaries and respect.

Through interactive discussions and activities, girls explored setting healthy boundaries and recognizing positive relationships.

Mutual respect and communication were key parts of the conversation, helping participants consider how their voices and boundaries matter in their interactions with others.

Space for questions

Understanding their bodies. Recognizing their rights. Practicing using their voices.

Making room to talk about menstrual health.

Menstrual health education was a key focus of September’s sessions. Participants explored different aspects of the menstrual cycle, including what to expect during their periods, the changes their bodies experience, and healthy menstrual hygiene practices.

Open conversations helped normalize menstruation and encouraged girls to ask questions. The sessions aimed to equip participants with knowledge to navigate puberty with greater confidence.

Knowledge they can carry forward.

September’s sessions connected learning about growing up with understanding personal rights, establishing healthy boundaries, and practicing self-advocacy.

Together, these experiences supported girls as they explored what it means to be Strong, Smart, and Bold—in their relationships, in their choices, and in how they care for themselves.
