🛡️ Self-Defense Saturday Empowers Girls and Guardians During Domestic Violence Awareness Month
- 7
On Saturday, October 11, 2025, Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta hosted Self-Defense Saturday in partnership with the Youth Auxiliaries of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (Rho Xi Zeta and Rho Epsilon Zeta Chapters). Held at our Marietta Center, the event was part of our recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month and brought together girls, mothers, and guardians for a powerful day of learning, connection, and empowerment.
✊ Building Confidence, Safety, and Awareness
Led by certified instructors from DIVAS In Defense, the day’s self-defense sessions offered more than physical training—they equipped participants with life-saving tools:
- 🥋 Hands-on demonstrations of basic self-defense techniques
- 🧠 Training in situational awareness and boundary setting
- 💬 Emphasis on using your voice, instincts, and presence to prevent harm
These skills empower girls and women long before any confrontation occurs—fostering confidence, courage, and control over one’s safety in daily life.
🧠 Workshops That Empower Every Generation
In addition to the self-defense demonstrations, the day featured interactive workshops designed to meet the needs of every age group. Sessions covered topics like:
- Healthy relationships and red flags
- Personal boundaries and assertiveness
- Digital safety and online awareness
- Cultivating a supportive circle of trust
Each component encouraged girls and guardians alike to speak up, stay aware, and support one another.
💬 Sharing Strength Through Affirmation
The event concluded with a moving joint reflection, where girls, mothers, and mentors gathered to share affirmations of empowerment—celebrating unity, awareness, and personal strength. These shared words were a powerful reminder of the community’s role in protecting and uplifting one another.
💜 More Than a Day—A Lasting Message
Self-Defense Saturday was a living example of Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta’s mission to inspire all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold. It provided both practical tools and emotional support—showing participants that they are never alone and always worthy of protection and power.
