Empowerment Through Awareness: Recapping the “Orange You Empowered” Safety Summit

Safety is not just a set of rules—it is a mindset of empowerment. On Saturday, February 21, Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta opened its doors to nearly 100 teens, tweens, and family members for the “Orange You Empowered” Safety Summit.

This dynamic day of learning was designed to equip the Metro Atlanta community with the practical knowledge, resources, and confidence needed to navigate modern safety challenges.

A Coalition for Community Care

The success of the summit was fueled by the power of collaboration. We are incredibly grateful to our partners who made this vision a reality:

  • Rho Xi Zeta Chapter (Domestic Violence Committee & Youth Auxiliary)

  • Zeta Amicae of Kennesaw, GA

  • Austell Community Taskforce & FACES Inc.

  • Communities In Schools & Cobb Upward Bound

  • The Boys & Girls Club

Critical Conversations & Hands-On Training

The summit balanced expert-led dialogue with interactive workshops. Attendees participated in two high-level panel discussions: “The Impact of Violence on the Family” and the deeply relevant “Stalking and Narcissism.” These sessions provided families with the language to recognize warning signs and the tools to support those in crisis.

Beyond the panels, six interactive demonstrations and four targeted workshops gave participants actionable strategies, including:

  • Club/Party Safety: Essential for our older teens navigating social environments.

  • Finding Missing Loved Ones: A critical session on immediate steps and resources.

  • Trusting Your Instincts: Empowering youth to recognize and act on their internal “alarm bells.”

Building a Safer Atlanta, Together

The “Orange You Empowered” Summit proved that when we bring youth, families, and community leaders together for open dialogue, we build a stronger, safer foundation for everyone. By staying informed and connected to local wellness vendors and organizational resources, our community is better prepared to protect its most valuable asset: our future.
